Core Cities group supports High Speed 2 for jobs and growth for Britain

As announced by our press release (found here) the leaders of the eight Core Cities have already given their strong support for High Speed 2 as the first step toward a comprehensive High Speed Rail network for the UK.  As such, we will be providing a comprehensive evidence based submission to the consultation supporting the policy, and will be working with partners and stakeholders to build a broad consensus of support for our position.

We are encouraging business and individuals to sign up to support HS2 at this web address http://www.campaignforhsr.com/ and to submit a positive response to the national consultation, which closes on 29th July 2011.

Below are materials that you can use to make a response to the consultation on High Speed Rail.  Further information can be found on the dedicated HS2 website, http://highspeedrail.dft.gov.uk.

Responses can be submitted over the internet at https://highspeedrail.dft.gov.uk/have-your-say, by email to hs2enquiries@hs2.gsi.gov.uk, or by post to:Freepost RSLX-UCGZ-UKSS, High Speed Rail Consultation, PO Box 59528, London, SE21 9AX.

The Core Cities submissionto the DfT Select Committee on High Speed Rail can be found here, setting out why we think HS2 is so important for jobs and growth, and we will be engaging with DfT officials through any other events or opportunities that the consultation presents.
