Economic

Newcastle's business offer is all about skills and innovation, from its diverse talent pool to research-intensive universities.

A £92m investment programme in the urban centre ‘Accelerated Development Zone’ is stimulating business and jobs growth.

This is adding to the city’s existing economic strengths, which include:

  • World-leading facilities for subsea technology development and supply
  • One of the largest clusters of games development companies outside of London, and home to the UK’s largest global games production studio
  • A UK City of Science with world-class strengths in the fields of healthy ageing, medical science and sustainability

Over £250m investment in cultural regeneration has also created a strong visitor economy, worth £1.37bn to the area
