  • Climbing: Olympic routesetters are based here; widely regarded as the UK capital of climbing with gritstone edges and many indoor walls all in the city boundary

  • Mountain biking: home to Steve Peat, former world cup winner, Sheffield is the only place in the UK with an inner city downhill MTB track (Parkwood Springs), and many other world-class trails

  • Health tech and life sciences: thanks to expertise in the digital and health sectors, Sheffield is building the world’s first Centre for Child Health Technology

  • Music: the Human League, Heaven17, Def Leppard, Pulp, The Arctic Monkeys, Bring Me The Horizon, Warp Records, Self Esteem… Sheffield has shaped the musical landscape of the country, pioneering electronic music, rock and pop for decades. Currently celebrated by a myriad of independent festivals such as No Bounds, Get Together, Float Along and Tramlines
